It’s now been a whole ten years that Aileen and Jordan have been together but their love for each other is still as strong as ever. I’ve been told that whenever you see Aileen, you’ll see Jordan. When Jordan’s mom was asked to talk about their relationship, she said that she knew that something was different the day he asked her if he could bring Aileen to their weekly intimate family dinner tradition. The moment she met Aileen, she knew that she was special.
Even Aileen’s sister, Erin knew there was something special about Jordan. Jordan would drive her to her dance classes and even sew her ballet pointe shoes for her. Let me tell you that from someone who loves dance, I hated and so embarassingly failed at sewing my own ballet shoes so am quite impressed at this!
Although Aileen and Jordan said that they didn’t incorporate anything unique in their wedding ceremony, it ended up being really special. They felt that it was the most important part of their wedding day since they had taken the time to write each other personal vows. It was really special to declare their love and recite our promises to each other through our own written vows in front of all our family and friends, especially since they rarely showed their affection and love through words and let alone in front of other people.
As much as it was a dream for Aileen and Jordan to have their engagement photos on the water in Tobermory, they knew they also wanted to be close to the water on their wedding day. They were happy to find Ancaster Mill with the beautiful waterfall that they could see from our reception hall. They also appreciate good food and love the food philosophy of farm to table dining which Ancaster Mill provides. Because Ancaster Mill uses local and seasonal foods, their guests were able to pick their entrees on the night of the wedding. Aileen and Jordan felt that this small touch made their wedding feel more personal and intimate, like we are all going out to eat dinner together. Aileen and Jordan incorporated a number of DIY elements such as the table signs, placecards and the seating chart. Jordan’s mom baked delicious shortbread cookies as their wedding favors for all their guests. Such a personal touch!
Aileen’s style is usually more simple yet elegant, but she loves to incorporate unique details. She was lucky to have three different dresses. The first was a red mermaid style QiPao for their Chinese Tea Ceremony to honour her Chinese heritage. Although Aileen originally envisioned herself getting married in a traditonal white bridal gown, she instantly fell in love with the Wtoo Yocelyn Bridal Dress from Felichia Bridal. It was a gorgeous moscatto coloured strapless and tiered-ballgown with embroidered floral detailing. It was so romantic and whimsical, yet so unique. She complimented her wedding attire with a pair of pearl earrings from her grandparents. Her third dress was something more fitted and sparkly, a contrast to her ceremony dress so that she could dance the night away.
On the other hand, Jordan chose a modern yet classic custom Midnight Blue suit made by Indochino. During the tea ceremony, he wore gold dragon cuff links to add a little touch of culture to his outfit. He also wore a pink bow tie and a pair of brown leather shoes from Antonio Maurizi to complement Aileen’s dress.
You can just tell that Aileen and Jordan put all their family and friends first – even on their wedding day. Because of that, it was such a special day that was truly celebrated by every one of their guests – many who flew in from overseas. I could not be more honoured to capture such an amazing day of the most sweetest people that I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know. Thank you, Aileen and Jordan for choosing us to capture this incredibly special day!
