K and W are both lovers of travel. Their shared passion led them to meet through a postcard exchange. W was going to South America while K was travelling to Europe. They started talking to each other mainly about travel. K gave W a surprise by popping up at Hong Kong airport and their relationship started from there.
Despite that they both live in different cities (K in Macau and W in Hong Kong), their relationship grew stronger. On a trip to Iceland, together they decided to do a photo shoot together. Landscape photography is another passion of W and the incredible scenery provided the perfect backdrop for their portraits. During the photo shoot, W got down on one knee and proposed to K amongst the snowy landscapes. It was so picture perfect!
They decided to have their wedding in Canada, where W’s family resides. K has actually never visited Canada before so the wedding itself was not the only new adventure they were taking together! Some of K’s friends had travelled all the way from Taiwan to celebrate with them! Their “simple elegance” wedding took place at the beautiful Spencer’s Waterfront in Burlington, decorated in colours of blush pink and navy. While it looked so fanciful and elegant, their lunch reception was intimate and relaxed.
After their lunch reception, we took a short hike to Dundas Peak for some spectacular images on top of the cliff overlooking the treetops of the Hamilton region. By nightfall, we followed them to a once in a lifetime opportunity to participate in a magical festival held by The Lights. Over ten thousand people travelled to the Niagara region for the event where lanterns would be launched into the sky. We got there just in time for the launch and I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was like a scene out of the Disney Tangled movie (they even played the song, I See The Light).
It was an absolutely amazing spectacle that had to be witnessed in person and an experience to be remembered for the rest of your life! It was the perfect end to their wedding day – to commemorate their new adventure by launching lanterns of love into the sky. Just magic!
