Cassandra and Joe met over three years ago, it was really “love at first sight”. They were instantly were drawn together, like as if they knew each other for years. They found out that they both have a love for dogs and on one of their very first dates, Joe wanted to see if Cassandra really loved dogs as much as she said she did. Joe had two dogs, Chloe and Lola. They went for a hike, which is now one of their favourite weekend activities. Since then, their beloved Chloe passed (reaching the age of 17 years!). They would then continue to talk about how it wasn’t the same with just one dog.
At the end of summer of 2017, Joe surprises Cassandra with a date on a Sunday afternoon. They went for a beautiful bike ride along Lakeshore and downtown Toronto. Eventually, they end up at Drake Hotel – their first date spot! Joe then takes her to High Park (their 2nd date spot) and they walk through the dog park and find a spot on a big hill which overlooks the water. With a picnic all set up with champagne, a cozy blanket and a picnic basket, Joe pops the champagne and they cheers to life, love and happiness. It was the perfect moment because they both just start crying for what Cassandra says is “no apparent reason” but they must have felt so appreciative of all the love and happiness they have together!
Joe asks Cassandra to open up the picnic basket. Inside is a cute golden retriever puppy with a collar that says, Penny. Their new puppy! Cassandra recalls how shocked and excited she was, but they both continue to cry together some more. Joe proceeds to tell Cassandra how much he loves her and how much she means to him. But with all the emotion that is in the air, all that really came out was that all important question – “Will you marry me?”. Joe gets down on one knee and apparently, the ring was in the picnic basket, but Cassandra failed to see it since she was already so excited about Penny! Cassandra describes it as “the best day ever!”
I love this story of how they met and how they became engaged because it is true to how much they really “click” and are so grateful to have each other. During their engagement session in Niagara, they were so blissfully happy holding hands and laughing with one another. It was too easy to capture their love and happiness amongst the beautiful spring cherry blossoms! Cassandra and Joe had brought a sign that said “better together”. With the joy that they bring to each other – it couldn’t have been said any better!
