Samantha and Mark could not be more perfect for each other. They complement each others’ personalities in so many ways – Mark calms Samantha down when she’s stressed and Samantha makes Mark laugh and smile at any time of the day. I noticed this dynamic when I photographed their downtown Toronto engagement session at the Distillery District not too long ago and you can recognize their chemistry in an instant.
Their wedding day was joined by their family and friends at Carmen’s in Hamilton for a classic hollywood affair. Mark started the party when he broke the glass in style to say “Mazel Tov!” after their officiant hilariously called out “that it would be the last time you can put your foot down”. Their wedding party was coordinated with black and white as well as their decor which incorporated bling, lights and pearls. So totally classic Hollywood! Samantha did an amazing job in working in the theme for her wedding. I love how their table numbers weren’t actually numbers – but the name of old hollywood stars as well. The 50’s music played all evening really set the mood (think classic Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly, Elvis Presley, etc.)
Mark looked dapper in a tux and Samantha looked totally gorgeous from head to toe! I loved her cathedral length veil and can you believe she did her own makeup? Sometimes you don’t know what will become a blessing in disguise on your wedding day! We had originally planned to go to Dundurn Castle for photos but it was cold and wet so instead we headed over to The Powerhouse for some super neat photos which totally fit their hollywood glamour theme. I love the chandelier, the exposed brick walls and the moody lighting indoors.
I love Jewish weddings because I get to capture the Hava Nagila! It is so incredibly fun when people get into it and they sure did at Samantha and Mark’s wedding! But my favourite moment in their whole wedding was when Samantha danced with Mark’s son, Carter and Mark joined in later. It was such a touching moment and it was amazing to not only witness but to capture such a sweet thing! They looked so incredibly happy together and it was truly an honour to capture this wedding! Samantha and Mark, thank you so much for trusting me all day long! You two are just so perfect and I wish you nothing but happiness together!
