R + P have an incredible love story in that they first met in the beautiful Himalaya region of Nepal. It was their Tibetan Buddhist guru’s 80th birthday celebration and they were both sitting in the monastery. R didn’t have the liturgy so she asked P, who was sitting next to her if she could share with her. P had come from India but was Tibetan by descent and was so struck by the fact that this beautiful Chinese girl from Canada could read classical Tibetan!
There was an immediate chemistry between them and even though R returned to Canada, they kept in touch. P later followed R to Canada where they now live together and they have now finally officialized their marriage! R + P kept their celebrations very intimate, having their wedding ceremony at home. R’s mom gave her blessings while P promised to take care of R for the rest of his life. After they exchanged rings, they had served tea to their family in a traditional Chinese tea ceremony which was then followed by a Tibetan Buddhist ceremony to celebrate their union.
Despite having all their traditional ceremonies earlier that day, R + P had a modern wedding reception at the gorgeous Canoe Restaurant which sits on the 54th floor of the Toronto Dominion Building in Downtown Toronto. R wore a delicate white Marchesa Notte bridal dress from Nordstrom. The sunset lake views from the restaurant were just simply stunning. They were lucky to have a friend hand make a Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Cheesecake for them! It was so so pretty!
R + P just wanted their wedding day to feel warm, fun, be respectful of tradition and just everyone to have a great time together. I think they got that and so much more. There were smiles all around and constant ringing of the glasses to get them to kiss! Their family and friends had come from all around the world to celebrate with them and the room was filled with joy and happiness!
