Rusana and Samer were lucky enough to find their soul mates in each other. Having met while in pharmacy school together, they clicked so quickly and easily since they’re like the same person. They ended up spending a lot of time with each other during school. But when had completed their program, they found themselves having to do long distance. Rusana lives in Pickering and Samer lives in London but it didn’t matter. They made it work, travelling the distance to see each other every weekend.
For their wedding day, Rusana and Samer chose to have their celebrations in between their respective homes to make it easy for their family. They decided on The Grand Olympia in Stoney Creek, a small town close to Hamilton. Their wedding scheme could be described as classic glam with silver, navy blue and blush pink.
I loved how they incorporated their respective traditions and cultures into the wedding day as it was important for their families. Rusana celebrated with her family before their actual wedding day with a small Henna party and Indian Pithi ceremony. A traditional Nikkah ceremony was held at The Grand Olympia, performed by the Niagara Falls Jamatkhana Centre. During their wedding reception, Samer’s family fired up the dance floor with traditional Lebanese dances. Cultural wedding traditions are so special because of its meaning and blessings for the wedding day. No matter what culture you are from – everyone just wants to wish the happy couple the best in their marriage.
And it was exactly that. Now that Rusana and Samer are officially married, she will be moving to London to live with Samer. So for Rusana’s family, it was bittersweet but they were so happy to see her married. I am lucky to have gotten to know Rusana’s family over the last year doing their family photos and talking with them during the wedding planning. I always could feel how considerate and loving they are as a family.
Rusana’s parents are seriously the cutest parents I’ve ever met. You can absolutely tell how much they care about their family and those around them. It was also super adorable that Rusana’s sister shared in her speech how she already claimed one of the bedrooms of their house and will be the first one there to test the temperature of their backyard pool. It just goes to show that although they will be missing her, they will still be very much in touch with each other.
Although I only spent a few days with Rusana, Samer and their families, I already miss them! Now that Rusana and Samer are married, I just know that they are going to have that same warm welcoming and loving nature as their family has!
