Rumour has it that when Elyse and Rob met, he was smiling as he was texting her and all the guys knew something was up. Elyse, on the other hand, was carefully choosing all the right things to say, reading her text messages over to her Mom or her best friend Courtney for approval. But it didn’t matter because Elyse and Rob clicked right away, sharing candid and open conversations without hesitation. Over time, they realised how emotionally connected they truly are and how they can read each other so well.
Elyse and Rob’s perfect date is in the kitchen. They love going grocery shopping together and planning out their meals. They’ll end up pouring some wine and get cooking. It gives them a chance to come together over a good meal. In April last year, Rob proposed to Elyse outside her favourite restaurant, Terraza.
Elyse and Rob wanted a classic and timeless wedding. They used natural live pine trees as the background of their wedding ceremony and warm lights to warm the room. They chose to have a cute little sweetheart table at their wedding reception with the same feel. One of my favourite elements was the cake topper! Playmobil played a big part in Elyse’s childhood and is very significant to her side of the family. So the cake had a cute little Playmobil bride and groom inside a wedding car. So cute! The wedding flowers were kept classic and white – just perfect for this winter wedding at Hockley Valley Resort. Elyse actually hand-designed all the wedding stationery herself.
Because the sun had set so early, we didn’t get a chance to get any portraits in the snow but we got some magical winter portraits out with the lights around Hockley Valley. Both their wedding ceremony and reception had such a warm and intimate feel. I loved how Elyse and Rob shared private wedding vows (in that they just spoke directly to each other and not so everybody else could hear).
Elyse and Rob had their first dance as husband and wife to the song “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” by Frankie Valley which is my husband and I’s wedding song too. No matter what was going on that day, Rob and Elyse just had their focus on one thing – each other. You could just get a sense of how happy they felt that this day was finally here and they could just celebrate the night away!
