The Crystal Ballroom at the King Edward Hotel is a ballroom that was built in the 1920s but has since been abandoned in the 1950s. Once known for it’s beauty and filled with crystal chandeliers (which is how it got its name) was the spot for many parties, weddings, dances and high society affairs. Despite it being unkept for decades, it is still beautiful but in a much different way. The walls and ceilings are peeling, the concrete floor is unswept from dust, the light fixtures look as if they could fall at any moment, but there is something that is so special when a bride and groom stands right smack in the centre of this grand ballroom. Nina and Mark, you look so jaw-droppingly stunning!
I was so lucky to be here, shooting with Eclipse Photography for Nina and Mark’s big day. Word on the street is that the King Eddie are now finally planning to renovate this and make it functional again! Nina, you are the sweetest bride I have ever met! I hope you and Mark had an excellent time on your wedding day as it was truly a pleasure to capture it. Below are the photos I took that day. Enjoy!
