Their love story began in a supplements store where Barbara worked. Lou would frequently visit the store and it took a number of visits for him to work up the courage to ask her on a date. Just a month later, Barbara moved to Vancouver for a job opportunity but they continued their relationship. After a year later Lou moved to northern British Columbia to be closer but there was still a considerable distance between then and so they were still in a long-distance relationship!
Their love and gratitude towards each other is endless. When you have that for each other – there’s no doubt that you will do anything and everything for one another. You will support and be there for each other no matter what. Barbara and Lou are living proof that when you’re in love, long distance relationships definitely can work!
Barbara and Lou wanted to skip on all the traditional wedding items and just have an enjoyable time with friends and family. They skipped on the regular ceremony and instead just had a short Chinese tea ceremony with close family. They exchanged their rings intimately amongst themselves which was a beautiful moment for them.
As Barbara is a Holistic Nutritionist with a passion for sustainable health and spirituality, she made sure to keep the wedding as eco-friendly as possible. She employed the talents of Erin Carpenter, an eco-makeup artist. All her make-up is environmentally friendly! Barbara made recycled wood stumps for her centrepieces and her invitations were also handmade by her from recycled paper. Cupcakes were both gluten-free AND vegan handmade by Barbara and the wedding favours were honey from Fairharven Farm put in Wedding Star jars.
I also want to say a big thank you to Piper’s Heath was absolutely lovely with making the whole day run as smoothly as possible! I have worked at a number of wedding venues but Piper’s Heath was simply amazing. They coordinated with us with all the details, made sure the day ran to its intended timeline (as it never ever does except in case!) and shuttled us around to all the best places for bride and groom photos. It is such a beautiful venue in Milton.
