I love hearing it when couples get married after knowing each other from childhood! I think it’s so adorable! Victoria and Denis have known each other since they were 13 years old and knew each other from church. It took a couple of years of hanging out before Denis noticed Victoria growing into a fine young woman. Having known each other for so long, you get to know one another pretty well. Friendships that turn into romantic relationships and then turn into marriage are such a treasure! There is so much history and closeness. Then after 5 years of dating, Denis finally proposed. Victoria had been hinting about it for 4 years!
We went over to the Distillery District for the shoot which was so buzzing on the weekend! Luckily, we were able to find some quiet spots for these Distillery District Toronto engagement photos. Victoria wore a beautiful royal blue dress for the shoot and Denis wore a matching blue shirt. It beautifully complemented Victoria’s gorgeous engagement ring (see below!). The design is so so pretty! Royal blue is significant as it is also their wedding theme colour. We then went over to James Gardens as Victoria & Denis used to live in the area and went to the park on their first date. So cute!
Engagement sessions are always a great way for people to open up in front of me in front of the camera before your wedding day. Although I spend a significant time with my camera, I mostly spend it behind my camera so I know that even I would by shy to be in front of the lens! It takes real guts to open up to your photographer and engagement sessions are such a great opportunity to do so. You get practice with getting comfortable and learning how to have fun with the shoot! Going right into the shoot on your wedding day may sound easy, but it’s certainly not as you’re very likely to tense up which makes you look serious. And nobody wants to look serious on your wedding day! My goal is to making you look your best which is relaxed and like you’re having the best time of your life!
Victoria and Denis will be getting married in June at Madsen’s Greenhouse with an intimate ceremony of approximately 55 family and friends. I can’t wait to shoot their wedding! I honestly think I have the greatest job to be able to witness and capture people in love having one of the best days of their lives. 🙂
