I am always so excited to photograph at the majestic McLean house at The Estates of Sunnybrook. It has such beauty to it and an intimate feel. Stephanie and Alejandro‘s wedding was beautiful from start to finish. It ran ever so smoothly, helped by Sally and Candy Cheung from Behind The I Do. Alejandro went over to Stephanie’s house earlier in the day for Chinese door games while she watched upstairs over Skype. Capturing Chinese weddings are so fun because everyone gets involved in the activities, watching and cheering on the groomsmen to make sure they complete their tasks in order to see the bride the first time that day.
I love first looks because it is such a cute moment! In Stephanie and Alejandro’s case, we ended up doing two first looks. One with Stephanie’s red Chinese qipao and one with her white wedding dress. I also love celebrating wedding day traditions such as the Chinese tea ceremony. It is such a significant part of the day because in serving tea to your parents and elders, it is an act of respect and gratitude to her parents for all the years of love and care. The tea also represents purity, stability and fertility.
Because Stephanie and Alejandro’s wedding day was scheduled in the middle of October, we got some superb fall colours! Because the sun set earlier than it does in the summer, we made the use of the night fall and captured some the beauty of the McLean House at night.
Stephanie and Alejandro, thank you for sharing your special day with me and allowing me to capture all these moments for you! I hope you love these photos as much as we loved capturing it! We had such an awesome time with the both of you! Wishing you all the happiness and success in your future together.
