Yaoyi and Valen met six years ago during their post-graduate program. They were friends first but eventually went on a couple of dates later that year. Just before Christmas of 2013, they officially became a couple. After graduating, Yaoyi moved to Saskatchewan to pursue her career and they did long distance for about a year and a half. Eventually, Yaoyi ended up landing a job in Toronto and they decided to move in together. Fast forward a few years later, Valen proposed to Yaoyi while celebrating their five year anniversary. They had gone skating at the Toronto Harbourfront and he proposed while they were walking along the Queens Quay.
When I asked them what they love about each other the most – they both said that they appreciate how dependable the other person is and how much they have supported them. I think that’s so important to have in a relationship – someone that you can truly trust and rely on! They also both really love to make sure they can make a difference in someone’s life, whether big or small and that they are always there to give a helping hand to those in need.
For their engagement session, they wanted to capture the beautiful fall colours. It was perfect since they love to go out for a relaxing quiet hike along beautiful trails and later rewarding themselves with some tasty snacks at a cafe afterwards. We were lucky to be blessed with so many beautiful warm colours of the trees. Yaoyi and Valen ended up being such complete naturals when it came to their photos! It was a little windy but it ended up not being that cold and I love all the beautiful Toronto fall colours engagement photos we got at this beautiful park in Downtown Toronto!
