Mickie and Sean’s wedding was one that I was looking forward to for a long time. I mean, c’mon who wouldn’t look forward to a Harry Potter inspired wedding? Mickie calls herself a huge Potterhead and so they both brought the Harry Potter series to life through their wedding day. I recently photographed their sweet magical engagement session and I just knew their wedding was going to be as magical as their love. Sean and Mickie’s wedding day marked the eight year of their relationship!
Mickie and Sean hoped to achieve a fun, romantic & magical wedding and one that was reflective of them as a couple. The colour palette was white, pink, gold and green but they incorporated subtle elements from the world of Harry Potter in the decor. They had so many interesting elements such as the themed and personally concocted signature drinks (Butter Beer, The Love Potion, and more!), to a personalized dinner menu reflective of Sean’s Jamaican culture. My favourite moment was when Sean surprised Mickie with an extremely magical cake – that folded out in all sorts of ways from a personalized Mickie and Sean Harry Potter box. Inside this wooden box, written was “Marriage Managed” which could only be seen in a ‘magical’ blue light. They eve had cute little cake toppers of themselves where they were dressed in the Hogwarts uniform!
They took on the Hogwarts tradition in that each person of the bridal party was “sorted” into their House and will wear a tie that represented it. Their wedding invitation was inspired by the Marauder’s Map from Harry Potter, the signing board was on a crazy fold out map of Hogwarts and even each of the tables were named after various known places like the “Leaky Cauldron” and the “Gryffindor Common Room”.
This wedding was eight years in the making so everyone was just so excited to celebrate their marriage. Sean further surprised Mickie with a Jamaican dance to represent his heritage which started off the fun Jamaican dance party! But my most favourite part of the night was when Mickie admitted that perhaps she was the Muggle and he was the wizard, since he was the one who always made all her dreams came true and brought so much magic to their lives. AHHH!!!! JUST SO CUTE!!!!!! At the very end of the night, I asked them to bring out their wands so I could capture some of this magic!
Mickie and Sean, it was incredible to have gotten to know the both of you and to have captured this enchanted wedding!! Even without all your wonderfully thought out Harry Potter inspired elements at your wedding, it really was MAGIC through your incredible love! It was such a treasure which I will remember for always!
