Julia and Colin wanted a simple and intimate wedding and so they chose the beautiful McLean House at the Estates of Sunnybrook in Toronto. They incorporated white, silver, lavender and light green with their wedding colours but still incorporated Julia’s Chinese traditions by having a tea ceremony at home with her side of the family.
A week ago, Julia called me worried about rain on her wedding day and I encouraged her to have hope and to not look at the forecast! In the end, there was not a drop of rain at all and we could both have their wedding ceremony out in the gardens as well as photograph out and around there!
Julia and Colin have now been together for three and a half years after meeting through Tinder. At first, Julia was reluctant in going on a second date with him because he was from Milton. But Christina (her maid of honour), convinced her to give him a chance. When Christina spoke during dinner reception, she explained that they had both known each other for so many years and knew each other really well. When Julia told Christina about Colin, she knew that if Julia was starting to get nervous and a little sweaty, there had to be something special about this guy! When Julia and Colin got to say their thank you speech, Colin said that he never noticed if Julia was either nervous or sweaty. In his eyes – she was glowing! Awww… how cute!
I love that they just wanted a fun and enjoyable wedding day. Julia and Colin say that they both “don’t take life too seriously, the little things make us happy”. Julia loves to try different foods but especially enjoys Asian foods and has a sweet tooth. When Julia first met Colin’s parents, she brought over Japanese cheesecake. Colin’s mom’s first thought was “YES! She has a sweet tooth like me!”
Spending the day with Julia and Colin was so much fun. They are always making fun and smiling whenever they go! Julia ended her speech at the end of the night with a hilarious joke that “Marriage is like a fart, if you have to force it – it is probably poo”. This made the whole room laugh but if you think about it – it’s so very true! I love the humour that these two bring to their day.
Their night ended with a romantic first dance out in front of the McLean House with all their guests gathered around them with sparklers. It was such a beautiful moment!
