Let’s be real here. High school sweethearts are just the sweetest. Josephine and Jon have known each other since high school and even attended prom together. When I arrived at Josephine’s home in the morning to photograph her getting ready, she gave me a couple of things to photograph. One of which was a glass box which held some dried flowers. I asked Josephine if that would be the box her ring bearers would carry their wedding bands in she nodded with a smile and told me that the flowers were actually the very flowers from her prom corsage! They had kept it after all these many years!
Having being each other’s high school sweethearts and now being together for ten years, it means that you truly grow up with each other. You can tell that they just know each other through and through when they look at each other. It’s like they can see right into each other’s soul. Josephine and Jon have been each other’s first for everything and each other’s only love. They are the proof that when you build a solid foundation of love from the ground up, your relationship can get through everything together.
Josephine and Jon kept their wedding ceremony intimate and natural. A romantic wooden arbour covered with flowers was set up amongst the tall forest trees at Kortright Conservation Centre. They even had their cute little doggy who they brought to be with them during their traditional Catholic ceremony. Although it was scheduled to thunderstorm that day – they persevered. Their guests held up umbrellas – pushing through the rain to witness this beautiful occasion.
Their wedding ceremony was very reminiscent of their proposal where Jon set up a picnic blanket amongst a forest. Jon had put together music, champagne and the beautiful forest scenery for that special moment. Since they love to sit outdoors together by the fire eating smores with their dogs, it only made sense that their wedding ceremony was also outdoors amongst the trees!
Even still, they kept their wedding style very classic and glamorous. Josephine wore a stunning Pnina Tornai bridal gown from Kleinfeld Canada and absolutely rocked it with the matching cathedral Spanish lace trim veil. She paired the look with white Christian Louboutin satin bow heels. Their gold-detailed wedding cake from Nadia and Co was just spectacular. The entire room at The Terrace Banquet Centre was just so beautifully decorated with tall floral centrepieces and a cute little sweetheart table set up in the middle with a floral garland. As Josephine and Jon were announced into their wedding reception, the entire room cheered and surrounded them as they had their first dance as husband and wife.
But I have to say that my absolute favourite moment of the day was when Josephine came down the stairs in the morning after she finished getting ready. Her parents were waiting to see her downstairs and she was just beaming with joy to see everyone. Josephine’s mother and father just had no words. Their eyes filled with tears and emotion. It was such a beautiful moment that almost everyone started to tear up too! These are the types of moments I live for. These are the weddings I so love to photograph. Thank you Josephine and Jon for welcoming us into your family on this incredibly special day!
